Ahead of Halloween, Universal wanted a fresh and inventive way to showcase their horror titles. I introduced them to Facebook 3D Photos, a format they had never used before, creating an eye-catching, immersive experience that grabbed attention in a completely new way.

Ahead of Halloween, Universal wanted a fresh and inventive way to showcase their horror titles. I introduced them to Facebook 3D Photos, a format they had never used before, creating an eye-catching, immersive experience that grabbed attention in a completely new way.

Overview

Universal needed a campaign that felt exciting, eerie, and different from standard promotional content. I suggested Facebook 3D Photos, using black and white depth maps to create spine-chilling motion effects. The result was a dynamic, shifting perspective that made classic horror imagery feel even creepier and more alive. As this was Universal’s first time using 3D Photos, the project felt bold and experimental, embracing new ways to engage horror fans.

The Challenge

The challenge was to create social content that stood out, offering something unexpected and attention-grabbing. The execution had to feel seamless and high-quality, enhancing the spooky atmosphere while ensuring smooth movement and realism within Facebook’s 3D framework.

The Solution

I crafted custom depth maps, transforming static horror visuals into eerie, shifting 3D images. The effect was playful yet unsettling, making it feel like the horror scenes were coming to life. As Universal had never used this approach before, it was a fun, inventive experiment that pushed the boundaries of their social media storytelling.

The Result

The campaign was a huge success, creating intrigue and engagement by offering a unique and unexpected viewing experience. The unusual movement and depth made the horror titles more immersive, keeping audiences engaged longer and ensuring Universal’s Halloween campaign stood out in a crowded social feed.
