Overview
MailOnline was one of the first publishers on Snapchat Discover in January 2015, delivering animated news stories and video content to a rapidly growing audience. Working under tight daily deadlines, I played a key role in shaping MailOnline’s visual storytelling, ensuring its content was engaging, dynamic, and optimised for mobile audiences. Beyond Snapchat, I also revolutionised MailOnline’s Video & Social Video desks by introducing a new range of pre-animated assets, which streamlined content creation. Partnering with the UX&D team, I developed an extensive style guide and provided training to video teams, directly influencing the future identity of MailOnline’s video content.

The Challenge
Producing high volumes of animations daily required a fast, efficient workflow without compromising on quality. Additionally, the video and social teams lacked a unified design system, making it difficult to maintain visual consistency across platforms.
The Solution
I designed pre-animated assets that accelerated video production while maintaining a cohesive brand identity. By creating a comprehensive style guide and providing team training, I helped standardise MailOnline’s visual storytelling, ensuring its video content remained sharp, recognisable, and engaging.
The Result
During my 18 months full-time and ongoing freelance contributions, I helped position MailOnline as a top Snapchat Discover partner, with its animated content reaching millions daily. My work also shaped the future of MailOnline’s video strategy, ensuring a strong, scalable visual identity across its digital platforms.
