Overview

As the retained agency, our challenge was to engage a deeply invested fanbase with content that felt authentic and nostalgic, while also introducing new, innovative formats. Given RuneScape’s rich in-game history, our goal was to celebrate its two-decade journey in a way that resonated with both longtime players and newer audiences.

The Challenge

The main challenge was crafting social content that felt fresh while respecting RuneScape’s long-standing identity. The community had seen it all, so we needed to push creative boundaries and introduce new engagement formats that hadn’t been used before in the RuneScape space.

The Solution

From creative ideation and design to video editing, I developed concepts that struck a balance between nostalgia and innovation. We introduced AR lenses, sticker packs, and community milestone videos, presenting 20 years of RuneScape’s world and player community in a visually engaging, interactive way. Every piece of content was crafted with a tone of voice appropriate to the brand, ensuring it remained authentic to the RuneScape universe.

The Result

The campaign successfully engaged and excited RuneScape’s dedicated fanbase, reinforcing its legacy while introducing new interactive content formats that kept the community engaged. The 20th anniversary celebration not only marked a milestone for the game but also solidified our agency’s reputation as a leader in gaming brand strategy and content creation.
