Warner + Sainsbury’s AR Filmbook
Warner faced a challenge with declining sales of their high-priced limited edition ‘Filmbook’ DVDs, which were housed in unattractive plastic security casings that didn't stand out on the shelf. To address this, I liaised directly with the client, and proposed using Web-AR to transform the in-store experience. By leveraging Web-AR technology, I suggested creating an engaging mobile activation that allowed customers to explore the DVD contents in 3D space using their smartphones.
I led the design and development of the project, utilizing WebAR (AR.js) for the interactive experience, and created 3D models in Cinema4D, with animations done in Maya. The activation was launched via QR codes on shelf blockers, optimized for performance to accommodate varying mobile connection strengths in supermarkets. The campaign successfully cleared shelves, leading to Warner running out of stock of the Filmbook, demonstrating the effectiveness of the innovative solution.
