Pokémon Online Games
This project came about through an open conversation I had with the client about Pokémon brands being able to appeal to more audiences through the notion of ‘play’ rather than products themselves. I pitched an idea to Pokémon with a prototype ‘personalised poster builder’ (which was built using HTML2Canvas framework in Javascript). They immediately loved the idea and we worked on a plan to pitch it to a retail partner.
The project took off when the COVID-19 lockdown began as the client realised we needed a new way to reach Pokémon fans and keep children entertained during the lockdown. I built the website responsively using HTML, Javascript, Pixi.js, HTML2Canvas and GSAP, as a working prototype demonstration for retail partner pitching.
Personalisation
The poster maker was designed to give Pokémon fans a free tool to customise their desktop and mobile screensaver, or choose to download it as a colouring in sheet. This feature was built predominantly with HTML2Canvas framework, which upscaled the preview poster into a full resolution downloadable image, fit for the device screen being used.
